The REDI Analyst AUGUST 2000 EDITION
Leveraging Technology for Enhanced
Litigation Support - An eBulletin from REDI Analysis
In this edition:
REDI Analysis Adds the Remote Companion
The ToolKit is a great tool for bringing your team together to
collaborate and enhance your litigation support strategies. The
ToolKit has a number of networking options that provides the litigation
team with shared access to case information and knowledge. This
ability to share can be extended outside of the office using remote
access options and/or the ToolKit Web Application Server. With
the ToolKit Companion you also
now have the option of hitting the road, working off line and
then dialing in to synchronize both the server and the traveler's
version.
There will be times when accessing
the network is just not practical or feasible. You may want to
take the ToolKit and work off line whether while conducting interviews/examinations,
appearing in court, flying across the country or sitting on the
dock at the cottage! You need to be able to have your own stand-alone
version of the software and the image collections so you can get
on with preparing your case. We have provided easy to use tools
that make this stand-alone access simple to achieve. For more
info visit our web site or refer to the attached PDF document.
REDI Analysis Brings Its Technology
to the Competition Tribunal REDI Analysis is proud to announce
that it is working with Canada's Competition Tribunal bringing
the technology of Litigation ToolKit to support the Tribunal's
document management needs and efiling pilot.

S2AR - Our Document Specialist Certifies
Its Work!
REDI Analysis has worked over the last year with S2AR (Scan to
Archive and Retrieve) who provide imaging and document profiling
services. These services are focused upon the needs of the legal
market. Images and OCR full text conversion are created as documents
are scanned to PDF. If you already have TIFF images and want to
leverage the PDF technology, S2AR will help you make this change.
Documents are bates stamped to enhance the integrity of the scanning
process and establishing a link to the paper. Objective information
is captured regarding each document and provided in a file that
is easily added to the Litigation ToolKit.
S2AR can also provide an Affidavit
of Certification. This affidavit will attest to things such as
continuity of possession, the bates stamping, document preparation
and scanning. This affidavit can then be used to support the authentication
and integrity of the images in subsequent proceedings.

The PDF format and Adobe Acrobat is the other underlying technology
of the ToolKit. Give us a call if you want to find out why this
is the imaging platform for the legal profession.

licensing arrangements are available. How does your TIFF viewer

Portable Storage - Not new but worth mentioning again.
Tired of juggling CD's. Tired of waiting while images get transferred
off your servers so you can take technology out of the office.
The technology is catching up and is filling this promise. Firewire
and USB standards have drastically improve transfer rates while
at the same time bringing a new class of products to market. Want
to have enough storage to hold over 500,000 pages and be able
to put that storage device in your shirt pocket. How about getting
this for under $800. These products are being released. Take a
look at the Lacie Pocket Drive ... then buy one! See http://www.lacie.com/scripts/mobility/mobility.cfm

Closing Note
We hope you found this month's ebulletin of interest. We are currently
rebuilding our web site but invite you to visit us when it is
completed as we will be maintaining an archive of the ebulletins,
have more detailed articles and lots of useful links to legal
technology. Got an interesting idea, got a question or even a
good technology related story lets us know and we'll pass it on.
Finally as we noted in the first
edition, we do not want to pester those of you who are not interested
in this kind of information. If you do not want to receive further
email just reply and note "not interested" in the text
body. Our understanding of this applied use of technology is based
on 20 years of hands on experience. We believe that it offers
tremendous benefits and strategic advantages. We are trying to
evangelize the use of technology and will continue to share practical
tips and solutions via this ebulletin. Of course, we hope you
will also want to see how we can help get your case REDI.
